Most summer romances end when the season does. This one didn't.

"Summer Lightning" opens on the smallest possible details - gold catching
light in her eyes, sweat on a cold glass, wind moving through her hair -
and lets a July thunderstorm do the rest. The chorus makes the argument the
title implies: this wasn't a heatwave high or a short lived season. It was
solid ground where sparks flew, and the storm never let up.

The bridge is where the song earns it. Seasons turn from green to gray,
other summer romances become ghosts of the past, and the electric feeling
stays exactly where it was.
