LOW ROLLER
A Vegas story told from the wrong end of the winning streak. The narrator arrives in a Coupe de Ville with a comped suite and the whole Strip rolling his dice, and leaves standing in line at the loser's buffet with a twelve-dollar tray — still rolling, still certain the next one turns it around. The dice do the talking throughout: they whisper, they promise, they take everything. "The high roller died, and the money's all gone" is the whole arc in one line.
